The Self-Heal Shop & Clinic

The Self-Heal Shop & Clinic is a natural health clinic with a very good reputation for sorting out difficult health problems! They do a huge amount of work with people with digestive disorders, allergies, adrenal fatigue, thyroid problems, chronic fatigue, auto-immune conditions, anxiety, arthritis, cancer and sleep disorders. They offer very effective allergy testing and use live blood screening and other diagnostic means as part of their service. All of the products used are natural herbal and nutritional products and many are practitioner only, which means they can only be dispensed by a qualified person.

Sarah Beesley is a qualified medical herbalist which means she is able to work in with people's medications where necessary, and also means people can be assured that drug/herbal interactions and drug/nutrient depletions are always addressed. Many of the people treated at the Self-Heal Clinic comment that it is the first time that they get a true understanding of their condition, how it came about and what can be done about it. For most, this is very empowering and is an important part of the way the clinic works.

The natural health clinic also makes a number of herbal teas - all organic - and beautiful face creams and ointments. Many of the plants used in these are grown in the clinic garden. They have the most comprehensive herbal dispensary in the lower half of the North Island.

Opening Hours
The dispensary and clinic are open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays 9.30am to 4pm,  and 10.30am to 4pm Saturday. Appointments are necessary to see Sarah, but anyone can pop into the dispensary during the opening hours. All enquiries are welcome.

Trade Aid Masterton

Trade Aid is a truly unique New Zealand based fair trade organisation. The organisation is an importer, wholesaler and retailer of fair trade products. Trade Aid goes above and beyond basic fair trade standards and its relationships with its trading partners form the basis of everything they do. Profits are shared with trading partners (it’s only fair!), and they are supported to increase production and quality. Trade Aid is also willing to pay for product before they receive it through interest free pre-financing, engaging in long term trading relationships and speaking out for greater justice in international trade rules, plus paying a fairer price.

Trade Aid works with more than 75 trading partners in over 30 countries. They work primarily with family groups, co-operatives and associations often through not-for-profit development organisations. By forming these groups producers are often able to increase their own political power enabling them to create social and economic change. They are better able to access credit, reduce raw material costs and establish higher and more just prices for their products. Profits are often reinvested into developing their businesses and channelled into community projects. Through support and income generation these partners are able to make positive changes to their lives and can look forward to a brighter future.
